General description : The heartwood is a light reddish-brown which shows distinct growth rings on plain sawn timber due to the contrast between earlywood and latewood. The wood is straight grained with uniform medium texture.
Strength : Douglas Fir has high stiffness, crushing and bending strength and does not readily expand and contract with the weather.

General description: The colour of Siberian larch can vary from a dark brown to a straw colour, similar to pine. It should not be confused with the British larch as the knots in Siberian larch are a lighter grey colour and tend to stay solid even after drying and machining.
